För att avsluta ett år till av skapande verksamhet träffades Rackarkonstnärerna för att göra isskulpturer. Eftermiddagens kyla förvandlades till en varm upplevelse fylld av fantasi och glädje. Skulpturerna kan betraktas någonstans på Rackarbergsgatan, de är upphängada i ett träd. Isskulpturer skapade med värme. Varmt vatten, varmluftspistol och mänskliga värme. Kulturnatten 2010

Rackarkonstnärerna bjöd på en underbar konstkväll vid ateljén i Rackarbergsgatan 58. Det började med en Workshop med konstnären Ingvar Staffans, Ingvar skapade med spontanitet och snabba rörelser en abstrakt konst "Madder Terra" . Därefter tog han sig tid att svara på gästernas frågor.

Konstnären Teymor Zarré och spelmannen Jan Winter spelade musik med glas, i ett melodiskt och lugnande tempo. Melodin fyllde rummet med harmoni och glädje, en ovanlig musik uppskattad av alla.

Kvällsprogrammet var fylld av överraskningar. Poeten och skribenten Anna Franklin läste sina dikter "Betraktelsen om Alexandria", En vacker berättelse i dikt form av hennes erfarenheter i Alexandria (Egypten). Vi förflyttade oss till de trakterna och för en kort stund kändes lukten, folket, värmen från Alexandria.

Författaren Ola F. Nilsson, känd för sina romaner och för att låna sin röst till olika talböcker, delade med sig av sin familjs sanna historia. Vad är en familj? De olika karaktärerna i hans familj är inte så olika oss med de är unika. Författaren Ola F. Nilsson fångade med sina sarkastiska och roliga svängar publikens uppmärksamhet och gjorde att lyssnaren glömde tiden för att leva i en saga av verklighet.

14 april klockan 18.00 En textilkonservatorn Gunnel Berggrén talar om vad konstnärer ska tänka på när de skapar för offentlig miljö. Hon visar även diabilder och ev textilier.

Bio-Mosaic 2010

The United Nations has proclaimed 2010 to be the International Year of Biodiversity. The hope and expectation is that the convention for biodiversity will attract attention in various ways.
Eight artists with connections to Uppsala have chosen to highlight the year by means of a project called Bio-Mosaic. Using recycled material, we will create three-dimensional mosaic sculptures, which will take their starting-point in biodiversity and the richness of variation in everything alive.
What we as artists hope to achieve with our exhibition is, on the one hand, to awaken interest in biodiversity and, on the other, to show all the potentiality of mosaic as a medium.
Bio-Mosaic intends to make visible the little, to discuss the great, to inspire to action from the perspective of visual and tactile experiences, and to give impulses to discussion.
Mosaic

In spite of its long history, mosaic as an art form has been somewhat neglected in Sweden. What many primarily think of is that mosaic is a commonplace article in public spaces, an impact-resistant surface in the subway. This view is perhaps due to the fact that mosaic is a mode of expression that to many belongs to the Orient and is a comparatively new art form in Scandinavia. That is a pity. It is actually a method that makes it possible to create both pictorial art and works of sculpture. The possibility of recycling materials, of the past and the present, opens up additional dimensions of creativity.

Exhibition

Each artist will compose one or more three-dimensional work/s in recycled materials which as their point of departure has biodiversity. All the art work will be possible to place outdoors as well as indoors. The first site for the coming exhibition will be the Botanical Gardens at Uppsala. The opening of the exhibition will take place on May 22, the United Nations Day of Biodiversity. The intention is that the exhibition subsequently will travel to other sites

Workshops, Seminars and Performancer

To the exhibition will be connected an exciting offering of workshops, seminars, and performances. As an example one may mention a mosaic workshop, in which recycled materials will be employed, and a performance of music on rocks. The group of artists will cooperate with researchers and others involved in working with biodiversity and will offer lectures and seminars in connection with the exhibition.

Rackar performance with stone music

is a network consisting of a number of cultural workers who since 2009 have their creative platform at Rackarberget in Uppsala. The network is primarily a meeting place but also offering an opportunity to jointly create art. Rackarkonstnärerna as a group includes painters, sculptors, textile artists.
